"Situated on unceded Algonquin territory beside the historic Rideau Canal, an official UNESCO World Heritage Site, Carleton University was founded by the community in 1942 to meet the needs of veterans returning from the Second World War."
"In multiple languages of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples honour the fact that these events are being organized by members of academic institutions located across Canada, with participants from other parts of Turtle Island (North America) and the world beyond. We wish to acknowledge the Indigenous peoples who are our hosts, and our ongoing responsibilities to all forms of life in these lands and waters."
