Dawn Ellis-Mobbs is a musician, experienced educator and arts administrator. Dawn performs with several orchestras and community ensembles, facilitates workshops and programs for the Central Region Cadet Program and is the Director of Programs and Community Partnerships with MUSIC CARE by ROOM 217. Dawn’s role at Room 217 includes overseeing all education and CERTIFY programs connected with music care and music wellness. She has presented at Provincial, National and International conferences on using music in health including presenting research at the World Music Therapy Congress in July 2023. Before her current role with Room 217, Dawn was the Director of Education and Community Engagement with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Department Head of Arts in York Region.

Brian Huston is the Co-Founder/Chief Executive Officer at Audioworks Technologies. Audioworks is a team of music educators, audio software & engineering professionals, music producers, and musicians who are building music technology education & creation products that provide all emerging artists the support they need to promote, protect, and distribute their songs.

The Power of 60bpm! Using Digital Platforms to Create Music for Wellness (SHSM Workshop)

Join Music Care by Room 217 and SoundsUnite, in a workshop that uses a virtual platform as a tool for students to create compositions using the music care approach. Participants will gain an overview of compositional techniques used when creating music for wellness including the magic of 60bpm!

This workshop, designed for secondary students and educators, will outline how music effects us across all five human domains. Learn more about how music can impact heart rate, brain activity and how entrainment works for wellness! Students will learn how to create music for wellness through the SoundsUnite digital platform.
